Kreyòl Conversation Group (Winter & Spring 2026)

This pay-what-you-wish monthly informal group meeting is for students who are interested in sharpening their Kreyòl language skills. Prior to attending, students must already have a basic comprehension of the grammar structure, sounds, and vocabulary of Haitian Creole.
Every monthly session, students will be provided with different prompts along with short reading excerpts that will be used to guide the group discussion. The focus will be on actively improving listening comprehension skills and speaking. The group discussions will take place almost entirely in Haitian Creole and all prompts and reading materials will be provided by HCLI.
This virtual workshop will take place every second Tuesday (unless otherwise noted) from 7:15 to 8:15 PM EST during the Winter & Spring 2026 seasons:

Who is this group really for?
This group is for anyone who is interested in taking their Kreyòl language skills to the next level.
How will this conversation group benefit me?
Speaking a language well requires regular practice. Speaking a language that is historically undervalued, like Haitian Creole, requires a certain level of confidence and awareness to overcome the stigma associated with that language. These conversation groups will help you build that confidence all while being in community with others who have had similar experiences!
