This 14-hour course is designed as a continuation of Elementary Haitian Creole I. Prior to attending the course, students must already have a basic comprehension of the grammar structure, sounds, and vocabulary of Haitian Creole (Kreyòl Ayisyen). In this course, students will be guided through all aspects of language learning (speaking, reading, writing, and listening comprehension). Class sessions will involve reading culturally relevant texts to foster more advanced vocabulary acquisition, composing written materials, and actively improving on listening skills. The course will be conducted heavily in Haitian Creole, to facilitate an increased consciousness of the language. At the end of this course, students will be able to comfortably navigate a conversation in Kreyòl while engaging in the written form of the language, at an advanced beginner’s level. Several courses sessions will be supplemented by multimedia resources, online videos, and other culturally relevant materials online. Several course sessions may be pre-recorded. All relevant course materials will be provided by HCLI. Course will take place entirely online and a link will be sent out prior to each class session.
