Glenda’s Story
Glenda Lezeau has always been very proud to be Haitian American and working with the Haitian Creole Language Institute of New York (HCLI) has given her the opportunity to share her love for the beautiful Haitian culture and language. She started her Kreyòl journey at a young age out of curiosity for the language and was motivated to learn as much as she could from her parents and grandmother. She remembers bonding with other children in school who spoke Kreyòl by practicing with them. With a BA in Psychology and Communication, Glenda now shares her passion for Kreyòl with HCLI students by teaching at HCLI. She is also a talented pianist who produces and remixes traditional popular Haitian music, konpa. Glenda believes that teaching Haitian Creole has helped her improve her own language skills!
